Primary sources

We prioritise official organisations, national programs, original research and corporate websites for descriptions of their own services. A link is not a current verification of every claim.

Fact, analysis and projection

GLOBAL RADAR automatically detects mentions and preserves the original outlet link; appearance in the radar is not editorial endorsement. The contextual filter reduces false positives, but automated classification can still require correction. Strengths and comparisons elsewhere on the portal are editorial analysis, not official rankings. Projects under observation are not presented as completed works.

Dates and opportunities

We distinguish automated current signals from reference content. GLOBAL RADAR retains regular signals for up to 24 hours and relevant signals for up to 36 hours from first detection when persistent storage is active. Static profiles show source or editorial-review dates. “Closed” means the known call has expired; “Announced opening” identifies a published date that must be checked again when it arrives; “Reference portal” is not an open vacancy; “Open” requires confirmation and a closing date.

Corrections

Provide the claim, profile and supporting source through Send a tip / correction. Receiving is clearly shown as enabled or in preparation. Material corrections are logged with date, reason and source.

Directory and independence

Inclusion is neither recommendation nor certification. Confirm scope, authorisations, prices and availability directly. Future sponsorships or paid profiles must be identified without changing editorial judgment.

Clock, temperature and map

The clock shows UTC, not each station’s local time. NOAA METAR records give the observed temperature and its UTC timestamp. Phoenix and Teniente Marsh are airfields; they do not represent an entire region. Reports older than 6 hours are archived. Offline we retain the last dated copy; missing values are never filled with forecasts.

The map uses NASA Blue Marble Next Generation, a historical 2004 mosaic. It locates points; it does not show current ice conditions, safe routes or territorial boundaries. South polar projection EPSG:3031; observation coordinates from NOAA’s catalogue.

Disputed place names and quoted headlines

When a territory or place has disputed naming or sovereignty claims, RADAR distinguishes its own editorial wording from the wording of the source. Original external headlines may be shown as published and are always attributed to the outlet. In RADAR-authored text, names are presented with enough context to avoid implying that a disputed designation is universally accepted. Reproducing a source headline does not mean endorsement of its terminology or position.
